Just like the music he loves and plays, Dustin is a true country boy from a small blue-collar town in northern Illinois. Fellow artist and club owner, JD Outlaw described him best as, "a solid country musician as real to his music as the hard work he grew up knowing as life." While Dustin was always in love with music and wanted to play guitar, he never did. That is until his mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2009. This sudden life-changing event smacked him in the face with the reality of how short life can truly be. From that moment on he poured every ounce of every day into pursuing all of his dreams with no regrets. Life is too short not to do what you love. It wasn’t long after starting to learn how to play guitar that he joined his brother and sister-in-law in The Olson Band. Soon he began hosting open mic events and not much longer after that, he ventured out down to Nashville in 2013 for his first ever solo performance. Another solo performance would follow a month later at the sold out Country Thunder festival in Wisconsin. After kicking around area clubs as a solo artist Dustin formed his first real band, the Blue Collar Rebellion in 2015. From that point on his life became a blur of playing clubs, festivals, and county fairs from Illinois down to Tennessee. Like anyone who wants to truly get in the game, Olson knew that country music is a “winner must be present” kind of game so after countless trips, in January of 2016 he finally gave in and made the permanent move to Nashville. These days Dustin is learning from the town. Instead of trying to take over, he’s taking a step back to hone his craft and become both a better artist and a better songwriter. But he knows he didn’t move to Nashville to stand in the shadows. He fully plans on finishing his first solo album and taking those tunes to every club, festival and stage from coast to coast. It’s been a journey to this point but Dustin knows full well there’s a lot more ahead of him than there is behind. So do yourself a favor and follow him on social media and join his mailing list to keep up to date with upcoming show dates, album releases, and other future adventures. Because if anything, it’s going to be one helluva ride.
